CU Fitter is a wholly new initiative, from charity Cancer United, to provide a tailored exercise programme for people in cancer recovery.Cancer United is a registered charity and support group for all those in the local community, whose lives have been affected by cancer.
Cancer United’s core belief is that physical activity should be part of any cancer recovery package. This view is endorsed by Macmillan and expressed in their “Move More Report”. A Macmillan survey showed that over 70% of cancer patients struggle with physical side effects between one year and 10 years after treatment.
It is with this in mind that CU Fitter has created a unique opportunity for one-to-one personal training sessions, specifically designed for patients in cancer recovery.
Cancer United’s mission, through the CU Fitter programme, is to help people in cancer recovery get their lives back on track. CU Fitter offers physical exercise support services that restore confidence and can lead to a healthy and happy life again. Most importantly regular exercise can help to prevent a recurrence of the disease.
CU Fitter is available to all cancer patients across the Coastal West Sussex region who are undergoing treatment for cancer or who are at the end of their treatment and in a recovery situation.
