Sponsor a Cancer Patient
Just £3 a week can give someone with cancer a chance of recovery
From the moment you are diagnosed with cancer the world seems to stop; nothing feels normal anymore, and in many cases people feel alone and frightened, and isolated.
Cancer United is a cancer support initiative with a difference. As well as weekly meetings, we have recently launched a physical exercise programme called ‘CU Fitter’.
Cancer United has built the first ever dedicated gym space specifically for cancer patients. With the help of our specialist trainers, the physical and mental wellbeing of cancer patients can be dramatically improved over a very short period of time.
Whilst Macmillan have recently hailed physical activity for those living with cancer as the ‘underrated wonder drug’, many patients will not be in a position to join a health club or main stream gyms and even if they were, they wouldn’t have access to specialist cancer fitness trainers to help and support them through their fitness recovery.
We urgently need your help to get as many cancer patients in West Sussex as we can through the unique CU Fitter programmes.
By becoming a CU Fitter sponsor, you will be helping us give a cancer patient a better chance of recovery. £13.00 per month (or just £3.00 per week) will enable a cancer patient to undergo a fitness test, to assess which class is suitable for them, after which they will be able to take part in group exercises especially designed for their type of cancer, and enjoy the challenge in a non-judgemental, non-competitive environment, with others who have gone through the same experience.
It will also give them the opportunity of becoming a member of the Cancer United Support Group, where they will receive all the benefits of the group including, most importantly, peer-to-peer support.
